Giving up Meat? Not for Everyone, But Definitely For Marilu Henner

Don’t leave! Baby steps, remember? You don’t have to give it all up, but you can cut down, right?

If more people knew about how meat was manufactured, the rate of vegetarians would increase significantly. I was a vegetarian for 4 years. I didn’t do it properly and I was unhealthy. But I never did it for animal rights. I did it because meat is just gross and I’m vain.

Right before an animal gets killed, it gets a rush of adrenaline through its body. Adrenaline gets trapped in its veins and its muscles and that is what we eat when we eat its flesh.

Humans should be vegetarians according to some scientists. Our closest living relatives in the animal world, apes, are 98% vegetarians. Even cows are vegetarians. (We’re just getting their healthy grass and grain diet once removed!) The structure of our skin, teeth, stomach and bowels, and the length of our digestive system are all typical of a vegetarian animal.

I’m sure a lot of people disagree with that statement above. It isn’t about if humans were made to be vegetarian or omnivores. The fact is red meat takes a heavy toll on our body and eating too much of it can make you live a short life.

How to Begin Giving Up Meat

Make only one meal per day can have red meat or pork (this means cow, pork, or lamb. Pork is not the “other white meat.” (It’s still bad for you) Just try adding more chicken and fish to your diet.

If you become comfortable with that, you can only have red meat or pork only 3 times a week.

Being a vegetarian isn’t really easy, especially in these times of super protein power everything. I don’t have a very healthy diet, even though I only eat red meat maybe once a week, and chicken about once a week. Do I eat a lot of vegetables to make up for it? No. So if you’re planning on going veggie, pick up a good nutritional book on it for recipes and ideas.

You don’t have to do every step to make a difference!
